We’ll Match You Up to $100 - Take the Chitika|Premium Challenge
May 30th, 2008
36 commentsOur newest units - Chitika|Premium - are yielding extremely high eCPMs for many of our publishers. If you have not tried them yet - do not miss this great opportunity!
Take the Chitika|Premium Challenge, and we will match you, dollar-for-dollar, up to $100 through June 30th.

The code MUST be placed directly above or below your article titles to be eligible for this program.
Get your Chitika|Premium code by clicking here and then login to your account.
Don’t wait around - to qualify for this offer, you must install the code on your site by Friday, June 6!
NOTE: Chitika|Premium will only display to U.S. traffic, and since these ads use our new behavioral targeting engine, they will only display to SOME of your US users (we call this your “Premium Traffic”). You can learn more about Premium Traffic by clicking here.
If you are already using the Chitika|Premium code on your site, then you are not eligible for this promotion.

It’s unfortunate that it’s only for people who have NEVER used the Premium. Why not open it up for everybody instead of punishing the early adopters…

What if we’re currently running Chitika Premium on some of our sites, but not others? Are we still eligible to participate in this challenge if we add the Premium code to a site on which we are *not* currently running Premium ad units?
June 2nd, 2008 at 3:51 pm
You won’t believe it but I had a 1000% decrease in revenue since April 26th (around Chitika’s code upgrade process probably).
I used to get about $15 everyday but it was cut down to 76~85 cents!! Some crazy coding issue probably! I am better off with Chitika for now. Mine is an iPhone blog and I have 3500 hits every day(minimum 2500).
Out of curiosity : What does this “we will match you, dollar-for-dollar” exactly mean? What is Matching??
Thanks!
Kiran

@Jazmin - You will be eligible if you put us up on a site that is not currently running the Chitika|Premium ads. Shoot me an email at ryan[at]chitika[dot]com.
@Kiran - Sorry to hear that - you should shoot me an email too. But to answer about “matching”:
We will give you additional revenue - for example - if you make $60, then we will match you $60 in addition - making the total pay $120.
We will match you up to $100, so if you make $130, we will match you $100 additional dollars, making your total $230.

What IF I make only 1$ ?
June 3rd, 2008 at 11:03 am
@Jess - if you need technical help, please contact Chitika Support: https://chitika.com/support/index.php
@Rigved - Yes that makes sense - we do not accept clicks from India, so if all of your visitors are from India, then we are not your best option.
@raicah - If you only make $1, then we match you $1, so your total amount earned is $2. We will match you for ANY amount - up to a maximum of $100.

I tried Chitika about two years ago and was getting no relevant ads for my websites. You’ve emailed me twice trying to get me back in here to look at this new service. Okay, looks good, and putting my keywords into the search brought back relevant results (finally) so I’ll give it a try. May as well jump on the challenge while I’m at it. :D Thanks for the opportunity.

@Kiran - I have the exact same issue, after the “upgrade”, my revenues when to the toilet 500% drop!, I still have the code on my site (I am lazy), but I will be taking the Chitika code off real soon.

chitika premium is a total boomer.
the ads become weird and so awful, I missed the normal old MPU.
now, a weird cheap banner keeps coming up, and totally screws the template.

@ale -
If you are seeing banner ads, then you are NOT running Chitika|Premium units.
Chitika|Premium will ONLY show up if we can show ads that are perfectly targeted to your users and they will ALWAYS look like the unit on this page: http://chitika.com/premiumads.php
Also, you can see a video of how these work here:

Hey Ryan,
Thanks again for your help! I’ve got my ad code up and running…and I’m looking forward to participating in the challenge ; )
June 6th, 2008 at 3:18 pm
It is unfortunate that this program is only open to those willing to put a big ad right at the top of the page, rather than placing ads in useful locations or putting them politely off to the side.
Visitors to my educational site would be deterred (if not actively discouraged by their schools) by “in your face” ads coming before the content, ads which would, in any case, require that I redesign my site.
Oh, well….

Google Adsense > Chitika.
The only way a chitika premium ad will show up is it if the traffic is organic. (ie, coming from google). Otherwise, no ad is shown or an alt ad is shown.
Even with their “targeted ads”, I am getting a a similar CTR with both adsense and chitika. Why they call them premium ads. . .I’ll never know. However, the cost per click is extremely low thus far. I am lucky I make a dollar from Chitika with 5,000+ uniques per day.
Had it not been for them matching what I earned. . .I wouldn’t be using them at all.
June 9th, 2008 at 4:43 am
I have 100% confidence i will get maximum 100$ from the premium adds! :)
June 23rd, 2008 at 10:30 am

[…] you taken the Chitika Premium Challenge? Nearly 1700 publishers have already taken advantage of this offer. If you missed out then […]

Well, I tried the challenge. CTR was higher than for adsense with me, but $ per click was much lower. Overall I lost out in higher profile pages, and I think maybe gained in low profile pages, but it’s hard to be sure. In any case I only got $7, but I may keep the ads on pages where I don’t use adsense — Google is still “punishing” me with a lower pagerank for using competing ads (I think, they never actually have the common decency to tell people the reasons) so my adsense revenue is much smaller than a year ago.
Overall not a win, but it did make me look at chitika again.
Last time I looked, they had those banner ads that appear to wobble and say you’ve won something, and I won’t run those on a site featuring (for example) 300-year-old fine art engravings! I need subtle ads. So the new “premium” ones seem to be better.
