Chitika Audits - A Thing of the Past?
November 21st, 2008
14 commentsMany publishers have expressed frustration with our “audits” process (at the end of the month, we discount the invalid clicks from reports - you can read more about this here.)
Well we have good news - with our new Chitika | Premium ads, audits are pretty much a thing of the past! Chitika | Premium is set up differently than our old eMiniMall/MPU units, and audits on Premium units are usually less than 1% of total earnings.
- In most cases, there are zero audits on Chitika | Premium ads - meaning that “what you see is what you get” from your daily reports.
If you have not tried Chitika | Premium yet, you can grab your code here, or to see more about how Chitika | Premium works you can check out this quick video.

This is my first month using Chitika Premium and I’m evaluating it carefully and ramping up slowly. So far I have to say that I am 100% satisfied with the results. None of my other income sources have suffered, it’s like finding lost money!

I just want to say that Chitika | Premium is far ahead of it’s competitors.

I have several clients running Chitika Ads. I’m not overly impressed with the avant-guarde premium ads because they are difficult to override. They are not topic or site specific and have no draw for niche markets that need targeted links to like products.
What’s more, the new implementations are slow. The programming (or Chitika’s delivery/peering system) is way too slow because they have allowed their programmers to bloat the code. Chitika ads are the LAST to load on virtually every site we manage (and we’re putting out a terrabyte of bandwidth ourselves just to deliver site information fast and efficiently).
In other words, they time out. It’s a classic case of Bleeding Edge, whereby it’s cool but doesn’t show up on your page very often.
The new Chitika code is trying to pick up cookies from Google, Amazon and every other major marketer out there. In doing so, they have become co-dependent upon everybody else BEFORE they deliver their ads.
While that may pay great for stockholders and employees, it doesn’t do anything for my client’s income nor does it increase my own revenue. Eventually, it won’t increase Chitika’s either since their market share will fall as a result. So put a leash on the propeller-heads.

What about the other chitika products like chitika linx?
Audits on Premium units are usually less than 1% of total earnings
What about audit on chitika linx?

@jame - Linx and other older Chitika products are still audited in the same manner as before, because of the system that they are setup on.
You can read more about that here: https://chitika.com/support/index.php?_m=knowledgebase&_a=viewarticle&kbarticleid=119

This does not seem to be true for me. Everyday my number drop from original earnings, for instance yesterday, my earnings were almost exactly half of my unaudited results. Why is this?

Surprisingly, Linx performs much better in my blog than this Premium. Not only for the CTR, but also for the pay per click.
I’ve got low CTR for the Premium though I have placed it above the fold, and the earning per click is now lower than Linx. At first Premium gave me around 0.23 per click, now it drops from 0.03 - 0.09 per click.
So, I love Linx than Premium simply because of its performance on my blog. I’ve read so many bad things about your audit system in DigitalPoint forums and I’m afraid my earning from Linx will also get high cut as well.
I guess this is what makes many bloggers decide to replace their Linx with Infolinks.
Just my two cents so you can get better in the future, especially in your audit system:)

@Todd - I’m not sure what you are referring to - audited data for this month is not available yet so you aren’t able to see it. I assure you that if you are using our Premium ads, your audits will be less than 1%.
@Jame - First, I’m glad to hear Linx works well for you. For most users that get good search traffic, Premium will certainly be their best performer. It depends very much on where you have it placed, and of course what kind of traffic you get. If you want to send me a link to your site, I can give you some suggestions on how to get Premium working better for you (send to ryan [at] chitika [dot] com).
Second - you mention that you have read bad things from DP so you are going to switch to Infolinks. Have you actually seen the audits for yourself yet? I would recommend at least seeing for yourself before just switching to another company - you can’t always believe everything that you read ;) Linx audits are actually quite similar to Premium audits now.

My traffic is 90.51% from search engines and it’s been a few days since I put Premium next to the first paragraph of every single post in my blog.
I’ve even tried to place it in the middle of post, but the CTR was still the same. It’s around 2-3 click for 200-300 impressions. As for Linx, I can get up to 13 clicks/day with the same amount of impression and each click has higher earning per click than Premium’s.
I’m worried about the bad things I’ve heard, but I’m not a person who just believe what others say before I try it myself, so I don’t plan to move to Infolinks nor Echotopic.
Nice to hear you say that “Linx audits are actually quite similar to Premium audits now”.
I’ve got very good click with Linx since I put in my main blog. If the audit for the next month is just like what you say here, I won’t hesitate anymore to promote your program to my associates and friends:)
